The simple hula hoop has changed my life.  The first time I saw a hula hooper, I was mesmorized  - perhaps I'm easily entertained - but whatever, the vision of beauty stuck with me.   I was looking for a core based workout that didn't involve boring situps or too tough on my joints and feet.  Being a heavy woman, well, I wasn't feeling too sexy when my first hoop arrived in the mail. 

My hoop sat for two months in a corner before I had the courage to really try it out without being too self-conscious.   Still feeling a bit awkward, I gave it a go.  About 20 minutes later, I was hooping around the waist without it falling with every other rotation. I kept going until I found my rhythm.  And after about an hour or so, I quickly realized hoopin' could become so much more... I started to laugh at myself, relax and feel the music.
